The Ala Moana Park Master Plan seeks to revitalize the historic park in Honolulu, Hawaii while maintaining its original character. Known as the “People’s Park,” the park caters to locals and tourists alike through activities and events. A new entry plaza welcomes visitors into the park, where existing ponds are restored with vegetated edges, outlook decks, and circulation paths that allow for better access, views, and enjoyment of inland water features. The picturesque Magic Island is made more accessible with a new promenade that leads to scenic lookout decks, and an improved “High Spot” terrace acts as the symbolic center point of the park, framing the brilliant ocean and beach views while providing a destination along the enhanced beachfront promenade. With lush, green open spaces for picnics and a renovated event pavilion, the Ala Moana Park Master Plan mixes history with innovation in way that will ensure the park is used and cherished by future generations in Honolulu.
