OLIN is working with Robert A.M. Stern Architects to design the landscape for the New College House, a residence hall that will accommodate more than 200 students. The landscape design aims to minimize the environmental impact of the new building while enhancing the campus landscape and expanding the Caroline Steinman Nunan Arboretum in coordination with the Landscape Master Plan. Numerous canopy and flowering trees enhance the diversity of the arboretum as well as provide necessary summer shading of building and patio areas. Site stormwater management is addressed through rain gardens that collect and filter stormwater and house a variety of flowering plants that tolerate both wet and dry conditions. These sustainable solutions will be interpreted appropriately within the context of the arboretum. New College House will become the new front door to Franklin & Marshall College along Harrisburg Avenue and will seamlessly integrate into the landscape master plan vision over the next decade.
