Janelle is experienced in planning, design, and research across the public private sectors. As a process-driven professional, she delights in every stage of design, fostering cross-discipline collaboration and leading design teams through the successful completion of complex, transformative spaces. Passionate about the democratization of space, Janelle is drawn to projects that celebrate cultural narratives, strengthen social resilience, and create inclusive environments that bring people together. By delving deeply into the historical and cultural contexts of each site, she crafts designs that are both timeless and uniquely grounded in place.
Her portfolio includes noteworthy projects such as Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Imagine Iowa Great Lakes in Okoboji, Iowa; the Lyllye Reynolds Parker Black Cultural Center in Eugene, Oregon; and the Wild Mile Framework Plan in Chicago, Illinois, completed during her time at other landscape architecture offices.
In addition to her professional work, Janelle is dedicated to advancing the field of landscape architecture, advocating for greater equity and representation in the profession. She serves on the Board of the Black Landscape Architects Network and the Professional Advisory Council for Purdue University’s Landscape Architecture program. Janelle holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Certificate of Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, with Distinction, from Purdue University.
